All the staff are ‘working professionals’ and can draw on professional experience and in some cases also teach on Degree Courses at other Drama Schools.

Fern-Chantèle Carter - Course Director

Fern-Chantèle is a professional musician, trained at Trinity College of Music, completing a Masters in Music there, she went on to perform in many locations, soloing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank and  Royal Festival Hall among others. She also has a Doctorate in Education, and has worked for many years teaching Music, and aspects of Performing, and Performing Arts in a number of  secondary Schools, and Universities, also teaching student teachers at two Universities.

Dewi Hughes - Voice & Speech Tutor

Dewihas worked as Voice Coach on productions of Little Women at the Duchess Theatre (London West End) and Anne of Green Gables at the Lillian Bayliss Theatre, Sadlers Wells. A member of the British Voice Association, he also works as a Voice and Speech tutor for Arts Educational Schools London (Musical Theatre department), and Drama Studio London. He has also taught at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Central School of Speech and Drama, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and Drama Centre London. In addition, he has run voice and speech workshops at venues across London, including the Old Vic Theatre.

Sam Kahn

Sam is a Fight Director and Choreographer, and is a Certified Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. He has Designed and Directed Fights with a Large Variety of Weapons, from Historical Beatings to Fights of Fantasy. Following his Qualification with the BASSC, he has continued to instruct Students in the arts of Staged Violence, teaching courses that result in an Industry Recognised Qualification Current Projects include a 19th Century Prize Fighting Short, Designing the Fighting for Film Performance Test, Fight Directing with the Group ‘Impact'- a Fight Unit for Film, Theatre and Television and working on his Fourth Feature. Sam works closely with Actors and Directors to ensure that they get the mostout of fight scenes that they can. He also works with other Departments - Lighting, Sound, Costume and Make-up to ensure that Action Scenes are consistent with the rest of the Production. 

Julie Rose Bower

Julie is a theatremaker and performer who lives inHackney. She trained at University of Oxford and the Lecoq theatre school inParis. Her specialisms are devising and movement. She has performed at the WestYorkshire Playhouse, Abbey Theatre and Barbican and worked with many notable practitioners including Enda Walsh, Theatre O, Geraldine Pilgrim and Lundahl & Seitl. She makes her own theatre work with her company Two Prong Crownand is currently expanding her practice into site-specific performance with a forthcoming project with animator Kate Genevieve.

Claire Calder

Claire trained Webber-Douglas. She was an actress for 15 years playing leading roles on stage, television and radio. A Diploma in Voice training at Central School was followed by teaching at Mountview, Guildford, and Arts Ed. She currently teaches at London Studio Centre, and Richmond Drama School specialising in voice production and sight-reading techniques for auditions and commercials. Also works in the corporate world teaching clients to deliver presentations with impact, authority and confidence.

Pauline Flanery

Pauline is a Theatre director, tutor and writer. She has extensive directing experience from The Greeks through to new writing, including Dido and Aeneas and We Will Rock You, working in Drama Schools, Colleges and Summer Schools. For four years, Pauline worked in partnership with the National Theatre on both the Shakespeare schools' festival and the Connections Programme. Her stage adaptations, including The Girl I Left Behind Me and Jekyll & Hyde have been produced in London, Edinburgh, The Coterie Theatre, Kansas City and the De Moyne Theatre, Vermont, USA. Pauline is a regular reviewer for EXTRA EXTRA and StageWon, both on-line Theatre Arts Magazines; she has a blog FLANGEONLINE

Tony Kirwood

Tony has written sketches for Russ Abbott and a large number of European TV Comedy shows. He co-wrote and co-produced "Brokeback Britain", a sketch show for the Camden Fringe this summer and "Sketchaholics" at Westminster Library in 2010. He has performed his own standup up comedy routine. Tony has also written humorous articles for a number of magazines including "The Oldie." As an actor, he appeared in both parts of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", "Lock Stock and a Fistful of Jack & Jills", "Murder Most Horrid" and "The Brittas Empire." He has been teaching comedy writing and performance at Richmond College since 2005.
